Polar The Cry T-Shirt
This black t-shirt from Polar is made from medium weight cotton and has been cut to a regular fit with front and back screen printed artwork. Designed by Polar Skate Co.’s founder Pontus Alv, the graphic pays tribute to Californian post-punk band The Cry and their 1990 track entitled ‘Alone’. On the front of the chest handwritten white text reads ‘Have you ever sat on an empty beach’, a lyric from the song, and in large across the reverse a monochrome graphic shows more handwritten lettering against a textured charcoal style background with a cut out figure within its centre. Below this bold ‘The Cry - Alone’ text highlights the inspiration. The body and sleeves have straight cut hems for a clean finish.
For anyone that is familiar with Polar Skate Co.’s experimental skate videos you’ll know that music from The Cry is regularly featured and is nostalgic for any fans who grew up listening to the album ‘Beautiful Reason’s’ during the 1990’s. From Alv’s debut ‘The Strongest of The Strange’ to the more recent collaboration with Nike SB for ‘Polar Rico’ an experimental videography style is present throughout and has gained Polar an international fan base.
